TCKRA ICF Marathon State Championship, Solo U Race, and Epic Demo

The 2023 TCKRA ICF K1 State Championship and Solo race will be Saturday, April 1st at 10am on Brooks Lake in Sugar Land, TX. (Parking location is wherever you want to park). But we will be setting up along the bank near the portage area. 

ICF classes will have the usual course with portages.  We're adding solo unlimited classes with no portage to the race! We're also adding a youth class to the ICF race (2 laps, no portage, may start at 9:55am to give them a headstart from the adult racers).

Each lap is approx 1.6 miles long.

The laps are as follows per class for the ICF Marathon Champs:

-ICF Men (7 Laps)

-ICF Men’s Masters 50+ (7 Laps)

-ICF Women (6 Laps)

-ICF Women’s Masters 50+ (6 Laps)

-ICF Jr. Men <19 (7 Laps)

-ICF Jr. Women <19 (6 Laps)

-ICF Youth (2 Laps)

Non-ICF Championship Solo Unlimited Classes will be:

-SoloU Double Blade (Surfski/etc.) Men (7 Laps)

-SoloU Double Blade (Surfski/etc.) Women (6 Laps)

-SoloU Single Blade (OC1/USCA/etc.) Men (7 Laps)

-SoloU Single Blade (OC1/USCA/etc.) Women (6 Laps)

-Rec Solo (plastic/etc.) Men (5 Laps)

-Rec Solo (plastic/etc.) Women (5 Laps)

-SUP Men (5 Laps)

-SUP Women (5 Laps)

Race day registration will begin at 9:00am at the race portage area and the race briefing will be at 9:30am. The exact portage will be along the bank in approximately the same location as previous years. You can park near the New First National Bank or anywhere that is public parking.

The course will the same as previous championships except that we are moving the finish line to the portage area (which means the final lap will be slightly longer). The starting line will remain at the fountains.

The short kids race will start at 12:30 pm at the portage area/adult finish line.  The course TBA Any kind of solo boat is allowed in the kids race. Kids DO NOT have to register online--we will do in-person sign-up just prior to the kids race.

The awards ceremony will begin at 1pm.

Following the race, Texas Surfskis and Kayaks will have an Epic surfski demo! Don't miss out on getting to try out the Epic lineup.

The entry fee is $30 ($10 for Juniors/Youth/Kids).  Online registration will remain open. Be sure to check in with Sandy at the registration table located near the portage on race-morning to let her know you are racing.

Liability waivers are ONLINE ONLY and will be emailed to you after you’ve registered for the race. 

Awards will be given to the State Champion in the following categories:

ICF: Men’s Open, Women’s Open,  Men’s Masters (50+), Women’s Masters (50+), and Juniors (<19yrs).
