ANNUAL
COME AND TAKE IT CANOE RACE

Howdy fellow paddlers. This is Mark Simmons and I want to invite you to the Annual Come & Take It Canoe Race in Gonzales on Saturday, October 1. With kind support from the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA), Lake Wood Recreational Area, and the Gonzales Chamber of Commerce, we can revive the Come and Take It Canoe Race in 2022! This is a family friendly event with races starting at 10:00am and the presentation of awards and prizes at 1:30pm. Please see race specifics below. We provide FREE food and refreshments at the finish. Come & Take It!
Start at LAKE WOOD PARK, just below H-5 dam, F.M. 2091 South off Alt. 90, 5 miles west of Gonzales.
Mandatory portage on river left around City of Gonzales Dam, with a paddle to finish line through Independence Park.
13 miles down the Guadalupe River finishing at SANTA ANNA’S FORD (gravel bar at U.S. 183 bridge over Guadalupe) Independence Park.
The race is during the Gonzales Come And Take It Celebration on the weekend of October 1st.
Tent and RV campsites available with showers and restrooms. Call Lake Wood Park (830) 672-2779 to reserve your spot!
The event starts promptly at 10:00 AM, race division start times below.
Boat numbers will be issued on race day.
Awards are given to the winning boats in each division.
Award presented to boat that collects the most trash and arrives at the finish line by 1:30pm.
The judge's decision is final.

On-Site Registration Available on RACE DAY. All participant registration fees are due on race day – CASH or CHECK. Checks must be payable to Mark Simmons.
Race Fee is $15 per person, $10 per child (15 years and under).
