REMINDERS FOR THE NIGHT RACE- April 22, 2023

Parking: Please make every effort to shuttle your cars to Gonzales. Parking is very limited at the park. You must pay for everyone you have entering the park, we want to stay in good standing with the park rangers. The ranger station closes at 530, so you'll have to use self pay after that. You can also obtain park passes online.

START TIMES: 6 and 730. If you think this course will take you longer than 5 hours, start early! You will still get plenty of darkness. Starting earlier also ensures you get food at the end. Please plan out your race so that you're finishing by midnight. Registration for the last start time will close at 7pm so that we can get everyone in the water and start on time. Don't be late.

BOAT NUMBER: Please have a boat number. If you want a split taken at Slayden, you need to be able to yell a boat number or you'll get skipped.

PRE-RACE SHUTTLES: 2 shuttles will be run prior to the race at 4 pm and 6 pm by my dad. Reach out via Facebook to get a seat on a shuttle. No post race shuttles will be coordinated. Darryl Jiral

GONZO DAM PORTAGE: Your choice which side you portage. They are both dangerous in their own way so make sure you scout beforehand.

REGISTRATION: All day of. I will post a screenshot to my venmo in the comments if you want to pay prior but you MUST check in and sign/bring your waiver. Please don't mark it as goods/services. We have the pavillion (refrectory) reserved for use of the bathrooms. Each entrant is $30 for this race.

FISH FRY: This is the best part of this whole race. We will have fried catfish, hushpuppies, beans, french fries, corn, drinks and lots of desserts for after the race. The party happens at Gonzales gravel bar. Bring a chair for the end and hang out. Food is for everyone, not just racers. Again, know your ability and start early so you can get food, you do not want to miss this fish."
