About the event
Join us for the 2022 TCKRA Elm Fork Regatta on Saturday, April 9th, featuring downriver racing for Canoes, Kayaks, and SUPS! This Dallas-based race will be held on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River for a total of 15 miles from Lewisville to California Crossing Park for the Competitor and Aluminum classes, and 10 miles for the Adventure and SUP classes. Be sure to note that there are two separate starting locations depending on the race classification entered, but everyone will finish at the same location.
Competitor classes will start at 9:00 AM and the Adventure class with start at 9:30 AM, leading to more interaction between paddlers downstream and ending about the same time at the common finish line. Lunch will be provided following the race. Custom-cut wooden medals will be awarded to the 1st place finishers of all the classes and the first 15 paddlers to participate will receive a pair of TCKRA - ELM FORK REGATTA tie down straps, drybags imprinted with the Elm Fork Regatta logo will be handed out to the remaining paddlers while they last. Course Description:
- Competitor and Aluminum start: Trinity Fork Park (locally known as the Kayak Launch), one mandatory left portage at Carrollton Dam, 15 miles
- Adventure and SUP start: McInnish Park (enter water on river left downstream of Carrollton Dam), 10 miles

*Winners of Adventure Solo and Tandem classes must advance in subsequent years to Competitive class.
Pot Pourri:
- To save time on race morning, please fill out the online liability waiver.
- All paddlers must have in their possession during the event a Coast Guard approved PFD.
- Paddlers in the Competitor class will portage Carrollton Dam, about 350 easy yards (it goes fast!). Be sure to exit at the boat ramp well before the dam, marked by a takeout sign. You may carry or drag your boat along the grass/dirt path or receive support of any kind while portaging. Follow the signs directing you along the portage path and be sure to stay off the concrete at the dam.
- Bring your folding chairs for hanging out after the race – enjoy the company and lunch.
- Shuttles are not provided. You will want to drop your car at the finish line, bring a friend to follow you down the river, or arrange/catch a ride back to the start with another paddler.
